Congenital malformations of the central nervous system in Scotland.

The reports of the Registrar General for Scotland provide information not available elsewhere on-the causes of stillbirth as well as detailed reports on neonatal deaths. Data on the common causes of stillbirth have been available since 1939, by month of birth, maternal age, maternal parity, and legitimacy, and since 1950 by social class of father and place of birth also. The present communication considers data relating to stillbirths due to anencephalus, spina bifida, and hydrocephalus, and to infant deaths due to spina bifida and hydrocephalus.
